Use of Fear

A person’s mindset is everything when it comes to performance. In fact, the mind is so powerful that believing you are taking a substance (that is actually not active) can produce biological effects in the body. This is called the placebo effect. In frantic situations, one must remain calm or all rationality goes out the window.

Some people target the mind by using fear and intimidation to get what they want. For example, yielding a dangerous object can be used to scare people, but in reality they may not have the intention of actually using it. When this facade is challenged, everything crumbles apart for them. In the world of boxing, Mike Tyson was the prime example of using fear to get into the opponent’s mind.
