Due to the surging popularity of MMA, there was been an ongoing debate about the difference between MMA gloves (closest to bare fist) and boxing gloves. There is no doubt that boxing gloves protect the hands more, allowing the user to punch without much fear of hand breakage. There is also minimal pain on impact so psychologically they don’t pull their punches.
One of the main dangers of bare fists or minimum protection is that hitting a hard part of the head or even the elbows can cause hand breakage. As a result, barefisted individuals tend to pull their punches more unless they want to break their hands. However, due to the surface area difference, bare hands are more devastating on the chin and jaw while hits to the side and forehead are stronger with gloves.
